Narayanganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Jayedul Alam formed two probe bodies on the mysterious return of the victim of a gang rape and murder case under Narayanganj sadar model police station.
Returnee Jisa Moni who was “deceased” in the case filed by her father, gave a statement to the judicial magistrate Aftabuzzaman's court on Monday, August 24 as a victim under section 22 and the court sent her to her father's custody considering age, while, Jisa Moni’s husband Iqbal was sent to the court seeking 5 days remand for questioning.
Three men arrested in this case have been suffering prison life but after fifty one days of the claimed incident police recovered the victim alive from Kusiara village of Narayanganj's Bandar upazila.
Jisa Moni, a minor girl, resident of Deobhog area of Narayanganj, went missing on July 4. After two days on July 6 Jisa moni’s father Jahangir Hossain filed a rape and murder case against two accused with Narayanganj Sadar model police station.
Sub-Inspector Shamim Al-Mamun was assigned as the investigator of the case. He arrested three men including a boatman who all gave confessional statements before the judicial magistrate court and are now in jail.
Fifty one days elapsed, all of a sudden Jisa’s mother received a cell phone call and the caller told her to pay four thousand taka and receive her daughter alive.
Being puzzled Jisa’s mother paid two thousand taka through Bkash according the suggestion of the case investigator.
And then police conducted a raid at Kushiara area and recovered Jisa Moni with a youth named Iqbal who hailed from matuail in Dhaka has been living as a tenant in Bandar upazila. According to the police, Jisa Moni married Iqbal willingly.
Earlier the case investigator arrested Abdulla, 22, son of Amjad hossain, Rokib, 19, son of Samsuddin and boatman Khalil resident of Burundi area of Bandar upazila, who gave confessional statement before the judicial magistrate court over Jisa's rape and killing, police claimed.
In quarry, officer in charge of Narayanganj Sadar Model police station Asaduzzaman told the Bangladesh Post that all the arrestees confessed to violating and killing the girl.
So they must have killed another girl in the same spot and day. They probably do not recall the name of Jisa Moni and her appearance. Another killing might have
been done by the arrestees,
he added.
However, relatives of arrested Abdulla, Rakib, and Khalil claimed that police extracted the arrestee's confessions through heavy physical torture and extorted bribes from them in the name of release too.
