A mobile court sentenced two people for illegally cutting soil with excavators from agricultural land in Brahmanbaria.
Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mosharraf Hossain conducted this operation in Borishal area of Sadar Upazila's Basudev Union on Thursday afternoon. The convicts are Shaheen (25) son of Ali Ahmed of Kashinagar area of Bijoynagar upazila of the district and Iman (20) son of Siddique Mia of Kautli area of the district town.
It is known that an influential gang was selling soil by digging deep holes with excavators from government and private agricultural land in different parts of Sadar Upazila.
Locals tried to prevent it but did not avail it. After receiving information from the locals, a raid was conducted in the Borishal area of Basudev Union of Sadar Upazila at noon.
In this operation of the mobile court, two were arrested and sentenced to 15 days without labor. An excavator (Vecu) and two trucks were seized while digging holes in agricultural land during the operation.
