Two leaders of Manabendra Narayan Larma (MN Larma) faction of Parbattya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) were gunned down by the unknown armed assailants at Babupara in Baghaichhari upzila headquarters of the district on Sunday midnight.
The dead were identified as Shatasiddhi Chakma,38, general secretary of Juba Samity, central committee of MN Larma faction and its Baghaichhari upazila unit general secretary Eno Chakma,28. A group of unidentified armed men came to the house of Ripon Chakma where Shatasiddhi and Eno were staying at Babupara at about 12:30am and entered the house by breaking opened the door and sprayed bullets on them, leaving them dead on the spot. The attackers were escaped the scene after confirming the death of the two, said M A Monjurul Alam, officer in-charge (OC) of Baghachhari police station, quoting locals. Baghaichhari police handed the dead bodies over to their family members after post mortem on the following day. A case was filed by Sunayana Chakma, wife of victim Eno Cahkma accusing 40 to 50 persons with Baghaichhari police station in this connection on Wednesday. Josi Chakma, a leader of MN Larma faction, Baghaichhari unit, in a press relase on Wednesday blamed the Santu Larmas’ group PCJSS for the killing incident. He strongly condemned the incident and demanded arrest and exemplary punishment to the killers. Sajib Chakma, assistant information secretary of PCJSS, refuted allegation of killing of Jyoti Bikash by their party members. We believed in democratic process not in politics of killing. Sajib termed it internal feud.
