Two people were killed and eight injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a microbus in Eidgaon Upazila, Cox's Bazar.
The incident took place at the Khodaibari area of Islamabad Union of Eidgaon Upazila on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway at 11 am on Monday, said Eidgaon police station OC Subhargyan Chakma.
However, he could not immediately confirm the name and identity of the injured. All the injured were passengers of the microbus.
According to the locals, Subharagyan Chakma said that in the morning, a head-on collision took place between a microbus coming from the opposite direction with a Cox's Bazar-bound Shyamoli bus in the Khodaibari area of Islamabad Union of Eidgaon Upazila.
2 people were killed and 8 injured on the spot when the microbus overturned.
Later, the locals rescued the injured and admitted them to various hospitals including Eidgaon Health Center.
The OC said that the bodies of the deceased have been kept at the Malumghat Highway Police Outpost.
Subhargyan Chakma said that the police are working to find out the identity of the victims.
