Two people were killed and another injured after a pick-up van hit a mini-truck at Sreepur upazila in Gazipur district early Sunday.
The accident took place at around 4:00am in Joina Bazar U-turn area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
The deceased were identified as truck driver Chanchal Roy, 30, son of Natesh Roy, hailed from Alipur village in Sunamganj district; and Ripon, 35, son of Siddique Hawlader, hailed from Barishal district. Belal Ahmed, Sreepur Fire Service Station Officer, said that a Mymensingh-bound pick-up from Dhaka hit a truck from its behind in the Joina Bazar U-turn area, leaving one dead on the spot and two others injured.
Later, the injured were rescued and taken to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex where another succumbed to his injuries.
