2 killed as tank lorry ploughs into tea stall in Dinajpur

Two people were killed when an oil-laden tank lorry ploughed into a roadside tea stall on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional road in Kauga Mor area under Sadar upazila of Dinajpur on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as night guard Azhar Ali, 60, son of late Azir Hossain, resident of Biswanathpur village of Dinajpur Sadar Upazila and M Rana, 25, resident of Kauga Hatkhola village of the area.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Farid Hossain said the accident occurred in the area when the oil-laden tank lorry ploughed into a road side tea shop as its driver lost control over the steering at around 5:30am, leaving Azhar Ali dead on the spot and customer of the tea stall M Rana injured critically. Locals took the injured to M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injury.

Police arrested the driver and helper of the tank lorry from the spot in this connection.
