The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP has brought back two Jubo Dal leaders from Saudi Arabia as the duo gave threat of killing to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through e-mail.
The arrestees are Din Islam and Kabir Hossain, CTTC chief Md Asaduzzaman told reporters at a press conference at DMP media centre.
He said the government of Saudi Arabia arrested Din Islam and Kabir and deported them to Bangladesh in diplomatic channel on January 29 with the help of Interpol. CTTC team arrested them from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, he said.
The CTTC chief said they received an email on April 17 last year where they wrote that ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be shot at 4am on April 27. Bangladesh police do not have the power to prevent the attack’.
After getting the email, he said, the higher authority gave directive to the Cyber Crime Investigation Division of CTTC to identify the criminals and bring them to book.
Asaduzzaman said, a team of CTTC identified the culprits by using technology and a case was filed on April 20 last year with Ramna thana.
Kabir Hossain is president of Jubo Dal Saudi Arabia unit and Din Islam is a leader of his committee, the police official said adding they are now on police remand.
