Rapid Action Battalion apprehended two members of banned militant outfit Jumatul Mujahedin of Bangladesh (JMB) during separate drives in Narayanganj and Cumilla on Saturday night.
The arrestees were identified as Tawhidul Islam alias Jihadi Tamanna, 24, who hails from Nilkanthapur village of Shatkhira’s Kaligang upazila, and Arafat Hossain alias Sajal, 20, hailing from Pachgasia Gangkanda area Cumilla’s Daudkandi upazila.
Senior Assistant Director of RAB-11 Muminur Rahman briefed the media on the arrests. Tawhidul Islam was apprehended from Bhangarpul area of Narayanganj’s Shiddhirganj and Arafat Hossain was nabbed from Daudkandi’s Goalmari area RAB recovered two smartphones and jihadist literature and documents during the raids.
RAB said the JMB men got involved with JMB organization after hearing ultramilitant speeches from different online platforms. They used to apps to communicate among the themselves in the different parts of the districts and collected fund, planned to carry out the acts of sabotage, RAB added.
Separate lawsuits were filed with police stations concerned in this connection.
