A Narail court on Tuesday sentenced two men to life imprisonment in a drug case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-2 Md. Saiful Alom gave this verdict in absence of the convicts.
The convicted were Saddam Dalal, 33, son of Momin Dalal and Md. Rana Hossen, 29, son of Yasin Dalal, both of them are residents of Hajipur village under Satkhira Sadar upazila.
Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) of the court Md. Alomgir Siddique confirmed the matter to the media.
According to the prosecution, in brief, acting on a tip-off, a team of Police conducted a raid in a passenger vehicle near Mirzapur United College on Singasholpur-Noapara Road under Narail Sadar Upazila on May 9 in 2012 and arrested Saddam and Rana with 70 bottles of contraband Phensedyl.
Police filed a case with Narail Sadar Thana against the accused on the same day. Investigating Officer (IO) of the case submitted charge-sheet against them. After hearing the six witnesses and examining other relevant evidence, the court gave the verdict.
