A two-day international conference on “Literature, History and Culture” was held at Rajshahi University (RU) to highlight different genres of literature and other areas of knowledge.
Faculty of Arts of the university hosted the conference for the first time. It was inaugurated by RU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Abdus Sobhan as chief guest at Senate Building on Friday.
Chaired by the faculty dean Prof Fazlul Haque, the opening session was addressed, among others, by RU Pro-VCs Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha and Prof Chowdhury Zakaria as special guests.
The conference included three plenary speeches and 21 academic sessions through presentation of 123 papers. More than 200 academics, researchers and professionals from both home and abroad are taking part in the conference.
Prof Sobhan said practice of literature, history and culture is very important for flourishing the humanitarian distinctiveness in human beings which is very important for ensuring an equity-based society.
