2 Chinese nationals held with gold worth Tk 5cr

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials arrested two Chinese nationals and seized 46 gold bars, weighing over five kilograms, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Thursday.

The two Chinese nationals are identified as Zhongliang and Chen Geng. They came from Dubai on a flight of Fly Dubai that landed at the airport around 7am. They were detained for carrying the gold.

According to a press release, signed by Sabrina Amin, assistant commissioner of CIID, based on information, the officials seized the three charger lights, where the gold bars were concealed inside the batteries. 

The market price of the seized gold bars is Tk 5 crore.

The process to file a case in this connection is underway.
