2,916 Covid cases reported in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered four more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,111 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 2,916 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,601,305, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The current positivity rate stands 11.68 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.63 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the four deceased, two were females and two were males. Of them, three were from Dhaka and one was from Chattogram division. 

A total of 24,964 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday. 

Some 266 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,551,653 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 96.90 percent.

As of Wednesday, 5,523,621 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 314,341,750 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
