Two more people, injured in the Madaripur bus accident on Sunday, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) yesterday (Sunday) afternoon taking the death toll to 19.
DMCH police outpost in-charge (inspector) Md Bachchu Miah said that nine injured persons of the Madaripur bus accident were brought to the hospital.
"Two of them succumbed to their injuries at DMCH. The rest are taking treatment in the emergency department," he added.
The deceased could not be identified immediately. One of them is a man aged about 60 and the other is youth of around 25 years, he said.
The seven injured persons are: Faisal Ahmed, 36, Abdul Hamim, 50, Badruddoza, 30, Pankaj Kantiz Ghosh, 40, Jhuma, 34, Bulbul, 50 and Enamul, 40.
The bodies have been kept at DMCH morgue for post-mortem, Bachchu Miah said.
Earlier, the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Emad Paribahan plunged into a ditch at Kutubpur in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district this morning.
Madaripur Superintendent of Police (SP) Masud Alam said the accident took place while the driver of the Dhaka-bound bus from Khulna lost control over the wheel in the area.
He then confirmed the death of 17 people in that accident.
