‘186 women, girls become victims of violence in Sept’

At least 72 girls and 114 women were victims of torture in the month of September across the country. Bangladesh Mahila Parishad published this list on Monday.

The Central Legal Aid Sub-Council of Mahila Parishad has prepared this list based on the news published in 16 daily newspapers.

According to the organisation, a total of 186 women and girls were victims of violence in September. Among them, 31 people including 21 girls were raped. 11 of them were gang-raped and three girls were killed after being raped. Besides, four people were tried to rape.

During this time, 12 people including 11 girls were sexually assaulted. Four girls were victims of molestation. 49 people including 10 girls were killed due to various reasons. Besides, an attempt has been taken to kill one person. 27 people including seven girls died mysteriously. Three people suffered acid burns, one of them died. Three people suffered burns, two of them died.

According to Mahila Parishad, two people were tortured due to dowry in September. 16 people including a baby girl were victims of physical abuse. Two incidents of domestic violence have occurred. A domestic worker was murdered.14 people including five baby girls committed suicide. Three girls were abducted. Besides, an attempt has been taken to abduct two baby girls. A case of child marriage occurred during this period. One woman became victim of cybercrime. Besides, 10 people, including four children, were tortured in various ways.
