17th anniversary of the Central Prayas Specialized Educational Institution was held on Tuesday in Dhaka Cantonment.
Nurjahan Ahmed, wife of the army chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, who is also the patron of the Prayas, was present as the chief guest.
The foundation anniversary was celebrated through sports with the participation of all members of the Prayas family. A colourful cultural programme titled 'Akash Chhoya Swapna' by the students of Prayas was also staged.
After inspecting the handicrafts and paintings made by the students, Nurjahan Ahmed participated in the photo session with the students. Besides, the event was attended by senior military and civilian officials, principals of the institutions, teachers, parents, dignitaries, media persons and students, among others.
It is worth mentioning that since its inception as an ideal specialized institution, Prayas has gained a wide reputation in the national and international arena. So far Prayas students have won a total of 49 gold, 19 silver and 11 bronze medals in the international arena, which is a unique achievement for the country. At present, many students of Prayas are engaged in various careers after completing vocational training.
