171 students get bicycles in Damurhuda

A bicycle distribution programme was held in Damuhuda upazila of Chuadanga district on Tuesday, where 171 poor and talented students studying in different schools in the upazila received bicycles under the Union Parishad Development Assistance Fund Scheme.

The bicycle distribution program was held at the upazila parishad premises at 12:30pm on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of Chuadnaga Mohammad Zahirul Islam attended the programme as the chief guest.

Damurhuda Upzaila Nirbahi Officer Mst Momotaz Mohol presided over the programme while Upazila Cooperative Officer Md Harun-ur-Rashid moderated it.

While speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahirul Islam said the bicycles were distributed to encourage the children to go to school and continue their study. It will be easier to go to school on time, avoiding the traffic jam. The transportation cost of going and returning from school will be saved as well. He also advised the students to ride bicycles on the road very carefully.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) KH Tasfiqur Rahman, president of Damurhuda upazila BNP Maniruzzaman Manir, general secretary Rafiqul Hasan Tanu, organizing secretary Lecturer Abul Hashem, Ameer of Damurhuda Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb Ali, president of Damurhuda Press Club Shamsujjoha were also present at the program.

A total of 171 students from 51 educational institute of the upazila received bicycle under Union Parishad Development Assistance Fund Scheme. Hafiz Maulana Mufti Mamunur Rashid, the Imam and Khateeb of the Damurhuda Model Mosque, recited from the Holy Quran at the beginning of the program.
