A fishing trawler with at least 17 fishermen has been missing at sea for 23 days in Cox's Bazar.
The trawler owner Khorshed Alam said the fishermen set sail for deep sea for fishing on September 20 morning from Tekpara Majhighat area.
"As per practices, the trawler along with the fishermen was supposed to return to the shore within 10 to 11 days. But they did not return till today (Friday). Even their phones are switched off," Khorshed added.
"The sea was rough on September 30 due to inclement weather. Many of the fishing trawler returned to shore on that day. Buy my trawler did not return," he added.
On October 3, Khorshed filed a general diary with Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station informing the matter.
Contacted, the police station's officer-in-charge (OC) Rakibuzzaman said, "We are trying to trace the trawler. Besides, we have sought cooperation from river police and coast guard."
