Bangladesh registered 17 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 27,730 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 518 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,564,019, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.
The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 2.34 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 15.61 percent.
Among the 17 deceased, eight were men, and nine were women. 13 of the deceased were from Dhaka, two from Khulna and one each from Chattogram and Barisal.
A total of 22,153 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday.
During this period 505 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 1,525,673 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.54 percent.
As of Wednesday 4,884,045 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 239,583,040 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
