Dumki Upazila Administration seized 17.5 tons of VGF rice from the house of Angaria UP Chairman Sayed Golam Martuza in Dumki Upazila of Patuakhli on Saturday.
Dumki Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shaheen Mahmud seized the rice on Saturday night with the help of Dumki Police.
UNO Md Shaheen Mahmud said 350 sacks of rice, each of 50 kg, were seized from his house. It is illegal to keep government rice in someone’s private house instead of keeping it in the warehouse or in the Union Parishad. Primarily, the crime is appeared to be committed and maximum legal actions will be taken following the law, the UNO said.
