A Science Olympiad titled ‘Precise Energy’ in the participation of students of Rajshahi Division universities organised to promote and popularize science education in Bangladesh, ended at Ishwardi of Pabna on Friday afternoon.
The closing ceremony of the Olympiad organised by Russian agency ‘Energy of the Future’ in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, was held at the Pavilion restaurant in Pabna’s Ishwardi.
The Olympiad was organized to make Bangladeshi students interested in science education. As the country's first nuclear power plant was built at Rooppur in the Rajshahi division, the region was chosen for the Olympiad, held for the first time.
Russian state nuclear power corporation Rosatom, Rosatom’s engineering department – Atomstroyexport (ASE) and Russiaan National Atomic Research University – MEPhI supported the event.
More than 16 hundred students from Pabna University of Science and Technology, Kushtia Islamic University, Rajshahi University and Rajshahi University of Science and Technology took part in the Olympiad.
Among others, Site Director of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project Engineer Ashraful Islam, Head of Communication Division of Atomstroyexport Nina Dementsova, Deputy Director of Energy of the Future Alexander Bychkov, ASP of Ishwardi Firoz Kabir and AC (Land) Momtaz Mahal spoke at the concluding ceremony.
