16 students from different departments of the Arts faculty in the 2016-17 session of Rajshahi University received dean's award in recognition of special meritorious results in bachelors degree.
University vice-chancellor Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar, who was the chief guest of the award ceremony on Monday handed over the crests and memento to the students at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Senate building of the university.
The awardees are Urmi Sarwar and Sadia Afroz Rushi of philosophy department, Adila Akter Nipa of History Department, Ishan Shahriar of English Department, Setu Khatun of Bangla Department, Noor Hossain, Tamjida Sultana and Ahsan Ullah of Islamic History and Culture Department, Abu Yusuf Ali of Arabic Department.
Moreover, Abu Rasel Siddiqui and Sheikh Saifullah Jihadi of Islamic Studies Department, Rifah Nanjeeva Prama of Music Department, Pianka Sen Mou of Drama, Sohagi Khatun of Persian Language and Literature Department, Elina Akhtar Lucy of Sanskrit Department, Suraiya Parveen of Urdu Department.
Addressing the award ceremony chief guest Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar said to the students, “Learning is easy but proper education is difficult. The education of the students will be reflected in their behaviour. Students should be aware of their surroundings.”
“This education should be applied for the development of the motherland. This award is in recognition of achievement. This journey of success does not end here. You have to keep the signature of this achievement in your career,” stated Prof Sattar.
He also told to the teachers that he expects from the teachers that through their teaching, the students should have a good education.
Islamic Studies department chairman Prof Mahbubur Rahman moderated the program while, Arts faculty dean Prof Md Fazlul Haque presided over and university pro-vice-chancellor Prof Sultan Ul Islam, treasurer Professor (retd.) Abaydur Rahman Pramanik and proctor Prof Ashabul Haque were present as special guests in the ceremony.
Each of the award-winning students was greeted with flowers, medals, crests, certificates and tk 5,000.
