The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has completed the construction work of 157 rural bridges and culverts in Kishoreganj district during last fiscal year.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) sources said the bridges and culverts were constructed at a cost of over Tk. 33 crore with a view to developing rural communication networks in 13 upazilas of the district.
DRRO office sources told that upazila wise constructed bridges and culverts are 21 in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila 12 each in Pakundia, Bajitpur, Karimganj and Tarail Upazila, 14 in Katiadi upazila, 8 in Bhairab Upazila, 10 in Kuliarchar Upazila, 20 in Hossainpur Upazila, 6 in Nikli Upazila, 9 in Itna Upazila, 10 in Mithamoin Upazila, 11 in Austagram Upazila.
While contracted DRRO Mukarram Hossain said that completion of bridges the rural people have been enjoying the facilities of transporting their agricultural products in addition to smooth commuting in far flung destination.
