15-day Sultan Mela concludes

The 15-day Sultan Mela came to an end on Monday in Narail. The Sultan Mela, which started at Sultan Mancha on April 15 to celebrate SM Sultan's 99th birthday, promoted a sense of appreciation for the arts and culture. 

At the conclusion of this event, a distinguished person was also given the Sultan Gold Medal.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs, Naheed Ezaher Khan MP, lauded the renowned painter SM Sultan for his profound portrayal of Bengal's heritage on the global canvas. 

Speaking as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the 15-day-long Sultan Mela and Sultan Padak award ceremony, held at Sultan Mancha of Narail Government Victoria College premises on Monday, she emphasized Sultan's contribution in depicting the essence of rural Bengal through his artwork.

Highlighting Narail's rich cultural, literary, and artistic legacy, State Minister stressed the importance of preserving the birthplaces of luminaries such as Bir Shrestha Noor Mohammad, painter SM Sultan, artist Uday Shankar, writer Nihar Ranjan Gupta, and others. 

During the ceremony, State Minister Naheed Ezaher Khan conferred the prestigious 'Sultan Medal' upon painter Naseem Ahmed Nadvi, recognizing his noteworthy contributions to the artistic realm. 

The event, presided over by Deputy Commissioner and President of Sultan Foundation Mohammad Ashfaqul Haque Chowdhury, welcomed Narail-2 Constituency MP and Jatiya Sangsad Whip Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as the guest of honor.

 Special guests included Narail Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, Principal of Narail Government Victoria College Prof. Khan Shahabuddin, and Deputy Director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Md. Rezaul Hashem.
