A total of 1,44,948 babies from 6 months to 5 years age group will feed Vitamin A Plus capsules (blue and red colour) in four upazilas of Chuadanga district on February 20 in the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2023.
Civil surgeon of the district Dr. Sazzat Hasan told this information on February 19 at a workshop with District Level Journalists. The campaign will be conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Planning with UNICEF assistance.
Dr. Sazzat Hasan said we have completed all preparations to make the national vitamin "A" plus campaign success. The civil surgeon narrated the importance of continuation of Vitamin A supplementation for the babies to prevent mal-nutritional blindness, especially night blindness, bitot's spots and corneal lesions. "Immunization of the babies with Vitamin A Plus capsules is crucial for strengthening their immune system and disease resistance capacity for healthier growth," he said.
He also said, 2,156 health workers and volunteers will work for feeding Vitamin A Plus capsules at 906 centres in four upazilas of the district. About 118 high officials of different government offices will monitor the program.
