142 DU students get Duke of Edinburgh’s Int’l award

A total of 142 students from different departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award” for their achievement in various extra-curricular activities.

Among them, 58 students received Silver Award and 84 others won Bronze Award. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed award among the students as chief guest at a function held on Sunday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.

Director of Students Counseling and Guidance Office of DU Professor Dr Mahjabeen Haque presided over the function while Chairman of Executive Committee of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Foundation Rizwan-Bin-Farouk and National Director of the Foundation Brig Gen (retd) Kaiser Ahmed addressed it as special guests.

Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the awardees. He stressed the need for enhancement of skills and development of leadership qualities of young generation to prepare them as human resources. He said, students have to participate in extra-curricular activities along with their academic ones to make themselves as worthy citizen.
