The 8th convocation of Bangladesh Agricultural University will be held on February 12. 6 thousand 5'22 graduates will participate in the 8th convocation. The convocation ceremony will be held at the university stadium at 10 am that day.
President and Chancellor of the University Abdul Hamid will not participate in the convocation. However, according to his instructions, Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak will preside over the convocation. Education Minister Dr Deepu Moni will be present as the convocation speaker. Also present will be State Minister for Planning Professor Dr. Shamsul Alam, Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury.
At a press conference at the office of the vice-chancellor of the university at 1 pm on Sunday, deputy director of the university's public relations and publication department and member secretary of the convocation publicity and publication committee, agriculturist Dean Mohammad Dinu, presented this information.
In the written speech of the press conference, Dean Mohammad Dinu also said that from July-December 2014 to July-December 2021, a total of 13 thousand 389 students including undergraduates from April 2022 to September 2022 and PhD from 2016 were included in this convocation. A total of 6522 students have completed registration for the convocation. Out of which 56 are PhD students, 1519 are postgraduate students and 4947 are graduate students.
A total of 224 people have been nominated for gold medals for the 8th convocation. Out of which 206 people have been nominated at postgraduate level and 18 people at graduate level. Among them, 183 postgraduates and 18 graduates have completed registration for gold medals. A total of 201 people who completed the registration will get gold medals in the convocation. Besides, a total of 50 people have been nominated for graduation awards. Out of which 42 have completed registration.
When asked about organizing the convocation, University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Lutful Hasan said that it is very good to organize the convocation with everyone from 2014 to 2022. It is going to be one of the biggest convocations in the history of Bakrbi with many graduates together. However, the president and the chancellor of the university, Abdul Hamid, could not participate in the 8th convocation. The President is not coming to the convocation due to physical illness. Now I feel proud to be able to organize the convocation after overcoming various obstacles.
