12-kg LPG cylinder price hiked by Tk 35

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has risen again. The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) said on Wednesday that the price of 12-kg cylinder has been increased by Tk 35 to Tk 1,456.

The new rate took effect from 6 pm on Wednesday.

Earlier on September 2, the price of 12-kg cylinder increased by Tk 44 to Tk 1,421. Over the past few months, the price of LPG has seen multiple increases--Tk 11 in August, and Tk 3 in July. However, last June and May, the price of 12-kg cylinder dropped by Tk 30 and Tk 49 to Tk 1,363 from Tk 1,393 respectively.

Before April, there were eight consecutive months of price increases, with the price reaching Tk 1,482 in March.In addition to LPG, BERC has also raised the price of autogas. Starting in October, the price is set at Tk 66.84 per litre. This marks an increase of Tk 2.05 from the previous month.

Throughout 2023, LPG and autogas prices have fluctuated, with LPG decreasing five times and increasing seven times. This year prices rose in February, May, August, September, and October while prices decreased in January, March, April, June and July.
