A total of 12 students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have received Jahangirnagar University Alumni Association in the United Kingdom (JUAAUK) scholarship.
JUAAUK, an organisation of former JU students living in the UK, donated the stipend money to the insolvent students. JU Pro-VC Prof Dr Md Nurul Alam (Academic), Pro-VC Prof Sheikh Md Manzurul Huq (Administration) and Treasurer Prof Dr Rasheda Akhtar handed over the stipend money to the students at the senate hall of JU administration building.
Prof Dr Farhad Hossain, Convener of JUAAUK Stipend Fund of Bangladesh unit, Prof Dr A A Mamun, President of JU Teachers Association (JUTA), Prof Tapon Kumar Shaha from Chemistry department, Dr Rumana Rois, Associate Professor of Statistics department, Sanjida Tasnim, lecturer of Statistics department, Jotish Shaha and Anis Zaman, representatives of JUAAUK were present among others.
While addressing the programme, Prof Dr Md Nurul Alam told students, “Fulfill the desire and meet the hope of your parents. They sent you to study here and do good result.”
Expressing her gratitude towards the JUAAUK, Bithi Shaha, one of the awardees, said, “I hope, the inspiration I have received from our esteemed teachers and the members of JUAAUK will be very fruitful for me in the future.”
Thanking the JUAAUK members, Prof Dr Md Farhad Hossain said, “They are forwarding their hands to the meritorious and financially insolvent students. I hope they will try to continue such initiative in future.”
JUAAUK has been providing this scholarship every year since 2017.
