A total of 11 shops were looted during a robbery at Char Shullakia Khasherhat bazar under No. 9 ward in Aujbalia union of Noakhali Sadar Upazila on early Saturday. A gang of robbers tied up the night guard and looted the 11 shops.
The robbers broke the locks of 11 shops and looted them one by one. They took cash money, valuable goods and one motorcycle during the robbery.
Quoting the locals, local Union Parishad Chairman Belal Hossain said the traders of the Bazar went home as usual after closing their shops on Friday night. Night guard Chowdhury Mia was on duty at the Bazar that night. Six youths came to the Bazar at around 2:30am by two motorcycles. They got off the motorcycles and tied up Chowdhury Mia at gunpoint before he could understand anything. Later, some other robbers came to the Bazar by CNG-run auto rickshaws.
The Chairman also said the robbers looted goods of almost Tk 20 lakh, including Tk 2,10,000 cash from Faruk’s shop and a motorcycle from Khalil’s shop during the robbery.
Officer-in-Charge of Sudharam Model Police Station Mir Zahidul Haque Roni said on information, police visited the spot. Legal measures will be taken according to investigation regarding this incident, he added.
