Iqbal Hossain Apu, MP from Shariatpur-1 constituency, on Tuesday morning inaugurated 11 roads including a road by the name of Alhaj Advocate Sultan Hossain Mia connecting Chowrangi crossing and Swarno Ghose Dighi. The welcome speech of the inaugural function was delivered by Mayor of Shariatpur Municipality Rafiqul Islam Kotowal.
He informed, a total 11 roads of the district were inaugurated of which four were named according to the names of national leaders- Abdur Razzak Road, Alhaj Advocate Sultan Mia Road, Shahid Freedom Fighter Abu Taher Road and Freedom Fighter Yeakub Ali Howlader Road. Nearly Taka 100 crore has been spent for the construction of the roads.
He further mentioned, 400 more projects have been sent for approval to the World Bank. The World Bank has approved those projects and the implementation of those projects would start from next June-July. Iqbal Hossain Apu MP in his speech as the chief guest expressed his gratitude to the Mayor, councillors and the officials of the Municipality for naming the name of a road in Shariatpur after the name of his late father.
The function was addressed, among others, by Mayor of Shariatpur Municipality Rafiqul Islam Kotowal and former Mayor, President of district AL Abdur Rab Munshi and was attended, among others by, Kamruzzamam Ujjal, Farulk Ahmed Talukder, Samina Yeasmin, M A Jahangir, Abdus salam Howlader, Enamul Haque, Hossain Md. Alamgir, Saifur Rahman Razzak, Motaleb Dhali, Abdur Rashid Sarder, Siddiqque Chowkder, Hossain sarder, Ishaque Taluker, Moazzem Dhali, Abdur Rahman Kotowal and Ramij Uddin Sharif.
