The 10th Annual Research Conference (Research Findings) organized by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Research Center has started.
The two-day conference started on Saturday (January 28) morning at the mini auditorium of the university. Under the chairmanship of SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed and Professor of Business Administration Department Md. Professor Monirul Islam, member of the University Grants Commission, attended the event as the chief guest.
UGC member said that a smart Bangladesh is dependent on university research. University researchers should come forward to see Smart Bangladesh. We believe that universities will increase the scope of more research based conferences, research in building Smart Bangladesh. The University Grants Commission supports the researchers in increasing their budget and creating facilities.
SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed said, currently education, research and infrastructural development at our university are progressing in parallel.
Once the ongoing mega projects in the university are completed, no infrastructure will be needed in the next 100 years. We have allocated 8 crores for research, teachers are also interested in research. Last year our university teachers published 700 research papers in various international journals.
He said, according to the instructions of the Prime Minister, new departments or faculties cannot be opened in our university, the quality of those who will be admitted must be ensured. We are working towards that goal. I am doing what is necessary to ensure the quality of teachers-students, officials-employees of the university. We are moving ahead with the goal that the people of the country expect from a university. I hope that with the joint efforts of all, this university will go to a unique height in the outside world. This requires everyone's cooperation.
In this, a total of 144 research results will be presented in 16 technical sessions at this year's annual research conference. Apart from this, 149 research projects of one-year duration and 23 projects of two years duration have been undertaken in SUST Research Center this year.
Apart from this, vice chancellor awards have been given to six researchers in six categories from six faculties of the university.
