1067 village police of the district got bicycles provided by Kishoreganj district administration. The village police are very happy to get a new bicycle. They expressed that the speed of their work will increase with the acquisition of new bicycles.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam distributed bicycles as the chief guest at the Deputy Commissioner's office premises on Wednesday at noon.
According to district administration sources, 1067 village policemen from 108 unions of Kishoreganj district have been given one bicycle each to curb crime by increasing surveillance in rural areas. A new bicycle was handed over to 109 village police in 11 unions of Sadar upazila on Wednesday. One of them is a woman village policeman.
Local Government Deputy Director Mohammad Habibur Rahman presided over the bicycle distribution ceremony, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer was present.
Mohammad Ali Siddiqui, NDC Shafiqul Islam, President of Sadar Upazila Awami League and Chairman of Boulai Union Parishad Awlad Hossain, Chairman of Mohinanda Union Parishad Liakat Hossain and others.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam said steps have been taken to distribute bicycles among the village police to control crime through monitoring of sexual harassment, child marriage and law and order situation in rural areas.
The deputy commissioner said that since the village police was in the vicinity of the people, if they could speed up their work, it would be possible to find out the law and order situation in remote areas easily and take immediate steps to resolve them.
