Ten new government high schools and colleges with modern facilities are being built around Dhaka. The process of acquiring land for these schools has already been completed, focusing on areas without existing government schools and colleges. These institutions will also offer career-oriented trade courses alongside regular education.

This project aims to provide quality education to 27,000 students and is being managed by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) under the Ministry of Education.

The total project cost, funded entirely by the government, has been revised to Tk 750 crore 40 lakh. The project is expected to be completed by June 30, 2027.

The selected areas for the new schools and colleges include Paschimdi in Keraniganj, Lakuriapara in Dhamrai, and other locations in Ashulia, Savar, Narayanganj, and Khilkhet.

Around two acres of land have been acquired for each institution, with some land acquisitions still ongoing in a few areas.

Each building will have 10 floors, elevators, modern furniture, computer labs with internet access, gymnasiums, sports equipment, and cultural facilities.

The project was first approved in 2017, but due to design issues, the budget had to be revised in 2023, raising the cost from Tk 673 crore 46 lakh to Tk 750 crore 40 lakh.
