Bangladesh registered one more death and 1,116 new infections in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday.
The total number of deaths has reached to 28,099 with one new death. The country recorded 1,116 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,592,209, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.
The current positivity rate stands 5.79 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.67 percent.
In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release. The deceased was a female and hailed from Chattogram division.
A total of 19,275 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday.
Some 154 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,550,688 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.39 percent.
As of Saturday, 5,499,010 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 303,944,870 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
Meanwhile, according to data published on the global database Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) on Friday night, one more case of Omicron variant has been detected in the country, taking the total number of Omicron cases to 21.
