A total of 1,000 small and marginal farmers in seven upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of onion and mashkalai dal in the current season.
To increase the interest of farmers in onion and mashkalai dal cultivation, the amount of incentive support increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of the district Md. Abdul Wadud said.
He said each of 500 farmers recently was given five kg of mashkalai dal seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for mashkalai dal cultivation on one bigha of land.
Each of 500 small and marginal farmers of the district will get one kg of onion seed, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for onion cultivation on one bigha of land, DAE official Md. Abdul Wadud said.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has already allocated Taka 16.40 lakh in this regard.
The seeds and fertilizers will be distributed very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, DAE official added
